Edited, and finally got a title! So, you may or may not remember this, but it's the first Star Wars Fanfic (and also, the firstest first(hehe) fan fic I've ever written) I've ever written!

Well, anyway, I thank Will for checking out some of these parts... well, back then... thanks for being my temporary beta then Will!

and.. here's the first part! Beginning's kinda weak, but trust me, it gets better... :D

Disclaimer: I, Jaeh, SADLY do not own the Star Wars franchise, nor the movies... If i ever did, Jar Jar Binks would NOT exist right now.

Ellie fingered her blaster. 3 months. 3 months since I first joined the rebellion. A job to do would be nice. A REAL job; not another one of those stupid base moves again. Anything-

Ellie heard her door whoosh open. She settled into a shooting position in record time and pointed the blaster towards the door, ready for anything.

“Put her down Ellie, it’s only me.” Lieutenant Joel Sprouse stated flatly. He walked into the room and sat on the nearby chair. Talking about a serious breach of privacy. I didn’t even invite him in.

“Sorry to interrupt your little quiet time kid, but I got orders from the way up. We're to go to Gallimoore and fetch the new, smuggled x-wing parts for our squadron.”

Wow. They’re actually giving me an assignment? I didn’t know wishing silently actually works. "Ahh. So... Gallimoore." Ellie got to her decrypter console, and sliced into the archives. She connected her datapad and uploaded the data about Gallimoore. Ellie pressed a button to access her pad.

“Umm... here. Gallimoore...” Ellie scanned the data, spitting out the usual ones. Climate, terrain and what out. “Oh, here’s something interesting. Lahsohn Bhulaman. A flowering tree that scatters poisonous pollen during spring. And, if I’m correct, it’s spring in Gallimoore. Are we trying to get ourselves killed?”

Joel nodded. "We know that, and the pollen is part of the risk. You also must know that’s one of the reasons why we are making the pick-up there. The Empire isn’t stupid. We analyzed their tactics, and they would never take a huge risk such as this. Besides, we have you."

“Me?” What is this nutcase talking about?

"You come in as a medic. And, we know you’re flexible enough. Not a lot of us are going- we can’t afford to pull other people out of the other assignments.”

"Alright then. You’ll arrange everything then, I presume. We leaving soon?”

"Soon enough. We’ll send a memo.” Joel tapped her shoulder lightly and started towards the door. “Get ready.”

Ellie swallowed. Her dinner threatened to come back up again. She gripped the armrests like it was the only thing that separates her from life and death. I loathe flying... I really really really hate it. “Not my dinner. Not again.” That was the only thing she managed before she had to run to the bathroom again for the fifth time.

"We're touching down in a few minutes. Everyone strap in." A voice over the intercom announced.

Ellie ran back just in time to strap herself down. She closed her eyes, and in momentary panic realized that they were touching down. “Oh crap. I hate touch downs.”

Ellie closed her eyes and did her best to keep her food down until it formed an uncomfortable burning sensation in her throat as it made its way down reluctantly.

The touchdown was perfectly executed. The Lieutenant hopped down from the ship, looked around cautiously, and signalled the all clear to everyone.

Ellie ran down the ramp and behind a tree. Lieutenant Sprouse laughed when he heard the tell-tale sounds of puking and vomiting.

“Never knew you hated flying that much.”

Ellie leaned against a tree for support. The dizziness hasn’t quite passed yet. “Now you do.” She sat under the tree and closed her eyes. She slowly opened them after a few seconds, and found that the light-headedness was already gone. “So... Lieutenant Sprouse... Care to introduce me to everyone?”

The Lieutenant laughed. "Call me Joel.” He waved an arm, indicating the crew. “Our posse... this is Marriette." Joel pointed to a female beside him. Next, he walked toward a Bothan. "He's Aldrek." He walked to a male sitting under a tree. "He's Lance."

"Ellie." Ellie grinned, and stood up. “Sooo... let’s move?”
Lieutenant Spr- Joel, nodded. “Let’s go people.”
“May the force be with us."

Ellie settled down under a tree, and saw Lance up ahead. He was trying to put together a contraption of some sort. Ellie walked over, and sat beside him. “Whatcha doing?” She asked in a mock-inquiry voice.

“None of your business. Now, go away.”

Ellie watched over Lance's shoulder as he connected a wire to another, putting a clamp over both pieces, and then connecting them to a power charge, and he turned on a series of connected data pads, scopes, and spare droid parts. The circuitry blew up. Lance threw the thing in bitter frustration.

"You see, you're doing it all wrong." Ellie said as she picked up the device and handing it back to Lance kindly. Lance took it reluctantly and fiddled with it again.

"You're making a scoping device aren't you? Here, get that red wire and connect this to a jack and lead it to the I/O port here. Then adjust - "

"Okay, okay, will you shut up? I'm the one working here..."
Lance got up from the ground and went to his pack under a nearby tree. He rummaged through it with irritation before turning to Ellie. "Don't touch anything!" He snapped at Ellie.

Ellie pouted, dropped down on the ground and glanced at him. "You just couldn't admit I'm right..."

She looked at the unfinished device and pulled it to herself. She tinkered with it, until it was finished. Pressing a button, the device jumped to life. Quickly she turned it off, as lance walked towards her, carrying a tool kit. It was strange how she had fixed it so quickly, and how Lance couldn't fix it so easily. It was quite amazing indeed, seeing how she never really fixed something before, though it wasn't that complex. Lance made it seem so though.

When Lance came over to where she was, he looked at the device, and seeing it fixed, he stared at Ellie with a foul look. She looked back at him, and rolled her eyes. Lance gave his attention back to the device and turned it on. It worked, just like it had worked for Ellie, and the scopes were clear.

He cleared his throat, trying to find the words for what he wanted to say. He didn't want to admit defeat, nor did he want to be cruel to her. He then spoke slowly, choosing what he wanted to say carefully. "So, what did you do?"

Ellie smirked a little when he asked her what she had done to fix the mechanism. It gave her great pride that she had proven Lance wrong. "Just, what I told you to..."
"Don't get too cocky." Lance said. "It isn't that impressive, and nor do I find it too good to show off skills that a woman shouldn't know."

Ellie sighed irritably. Marriette sat beside her and whispered lowly, "Don't pay any attention to him. He's really like that."

Ellie was about to say something when bursts of plasma shot through. Fear was going through Ellie, since she didn't know what was going on, nor did she know where it was coming from, or who was shooting the plasma. She looked at Marriette with a worried expression.

"Ambush!" Aldrek shouted, running towards a big rock for cover.

Ellie and Marriette knew what to do even before Aldrek said ambush. They both were already on the ground, protecting themselves. Ellie hesitantly looked up over at Lance, who wasn't paying attention to what was going on. Swearing under her breath, she hissed at Lance to take cover, before he was killed.

Lance finally came to his senses and ran for cover. He hid behind a tree and pulled out his blaster. Firing a couple of random shots, Lance leaned down and pulled Ellie up as she crawled towards his tree for cover.

Ellie got up slowly, looking around, making sure no more shots were coming her way, before she whispered. "Who are they?" She then suddenly noticed a flash of white from afar. "Empire? But I thought..."

"We said the Empire had very little chance to look for us here, but that didn't mean that they couldn't find us here." Lance muttered, doing his shoot and hide pattern. Surprisingly, the random shots were hitting someone or something.

Ellie took out her blaster out and fired also, killing a couple of Stormtroopers. Remarkably, the shots were accurate even though they weren't as precise as she would have liked them to be. Ellie felt a quick sense of danger and pushed Lance down. It was a tingling sensation flowing through her, telling her that something was going to happen. She looked to the right and saw a Trooper, who made his way towards them, re-loading his plaster with a stun bolt.

She shot him by the throat. Armor was no use no use to him.... she thought, laughing quietly to herself as she continued shooting. She risked a glance to the left and saw the stun bolt fired earlier.

Lance took a fierce look at Ellie. "Why'd you push me?" he asked roughly, not liking the fact that Ellie was taking charge of the situation.

"A Trooper made his way here, and tried to knock us out." Ellie indicated to the Trooper she just shot.

Lance turned around angrily. He hated it when someone seemed better than he, someone who worked hard to get this far, where people like Ellie barely did anything, and everything was handed down to her, or so it seemed to him. All of a sudden all the shooting stopped, as if nothing happened at all, as if they were doing what they were doing before the Stormtroopers had started to fire at them. Ellie risked another glance, and saw about twenty-five storm troopers heading their way. Five were already dead, including one, whom she had shot.

A voice through her comlink had stated that he'll distract them. Ellie looked around and saw Joel run, followed by five or six troopers. She thought angrily to herself, out of fear, and frustration. What the hell is he doing?!?!

Out of anger, Ellie picked up her blaster and reloaded it. She motioned to Aldrek to throw her some thermal-detonators, those which are near him. Darn it! Why’d he need to do that?!?! Ellie turned one on, and threw it into the direction of the remaining troopers. About 5 troopers fell, sprawling lifeless on the forest floor. Heck, why did the Empire pick up soldiers so dumb, Ellie thought as she moved quickly to follow Joel. But that is a good thing. If these guys were so smart, I’d be dead right now. She crept behind a tree, just in time to flag into a running trooper. Ellie got her knife and stabbed the soldier in the throat, blood splattering over the white armor. She looked behind her and saw that her friends dealing with the remaining Stormtroopers.

As she followed Joel and his followers through the forest, Ellie turned and threw a detonator at the running troopers following Joel. Two of them were killed, leaving 3 behind. One stayed to find Ellie; the two others still followed Joel. He can take care of those two. Ellie thought. Joel could do it. Ellie crept behind the Stormtrooper and killed him silently with her knife. She heard two blaster shots. She looked up just in time to see the two remaining Stormtroopers down.

Joel ran to her. “Are you ok?” He asked.

“Are you nuts?!” Ellie shouted at him. She stared at him angrily. “You were almost killed!” She glared at him. He has no right. No right to make me worry. No right to do that stupid stunt of his. No right to jeopardize the mission that way.

Joel just laughed. “I forgot you’re just a new one. Ask them. I do it almost all the time and always end up alive.”

“Yes, but one day your sithspawned luck will run out you idiot!”

Joel showed a lopsided grin as he walked back to camp. Ellie pouted and shook her head at him, glaring as she followed him with her eyes. Doesn’t he know people actually worry about him?! He’s not only endangering the mission, he’s also doing stupid things that make people worry- make ME worry! Absurdity actually kills people, you know that, Lieutenant?! Ellie shivered in utter irritation. She stomped back to camp. Joel was already giving out orders.

“We need to move out people. They already know where our camp is. By the way, the shipment would arrive sooner or later. But, home base says shipment’ll arrive quick. And also, try to expect company. They already know we are here.” Joel emphasized.

Ellie checked the crew for any casualties. Aldrek’s shoulder was hit by a blaster shot, and Joel’s arm got burned by a plasma bolt. Lance’s foot was bleeding because of debris that hit it which is caused by a thermal-detonator’s explosion caused. Marriette was otherwise unharmed.

As they were packing, Lance finally got past his mood swing. “Hey Ellie…”

“What??” Ellie answered with a snap. She didn't really want to talk to anyone right now. Not only was she concentrating on her job, she was also still bummed about what Joel did.

“I- well um, I-” Lance swallowed hard. “Look, I’m not going to repeat this again. So please listen carefully. I – I’m sorry for my behavior. We are on the same team, on the same mission. We need to cooperate. And… I am grateful for what you’ve done for me. You saved me from the trooper who almost pumped into me a stun bolt. You also really did a neat handiwork on that scope system. We really need that device to detect enemies. I just haven’t prepared it yet when the stormtroopers came. The device you worked on is doing great. Honest!”

Ellie pretended not to hear him, but she was really touched by the simple apology. He sounds so cute, innocent and adorable! Ellie giggled as she thought to herself. I have to make him do this more often. She smiled, and turned around to face him. “It’s alright. You don’t need to fuss over it or anything.”

Lance grinned. “Glad that was over. Apologies are... well, awkward.” He turned back to his work, but not before dropping a line of mock-cautioning. “Oh, and one more thing, if my temper explodes again, it’s just that I’m really like that. I have intense mood swings.”

“Yeah, I noticed.” Ellie said quietly. “Hey, pack your things and get that scoping device ready. We might need it.”

Lance nodded and got up to finish packing. The team moved to another part of the jungle, farther from the pick-up place. Ellie was puzzled, and resolved to ask Joel about this.

“Lieutenant, why did we move farther away from the rendezvous point? How could we pick up those parts??” Ellie questioned.

“We couldn’t lead the Empire to the pick-up place, can’t we?”

Ellie nodded. “Point.”

Ellie got back to preparing her things while talking animatedly to Marriette. After a long monologue, she finally decided to let the so-called conversation have a bit of interactivity. “So, how long have you both been in the rebellion?”

“About, um, two years I guess. I’ve been here since I was 18. Ran away from home. Parents just don’t understand why we have to make our move again the Empire now. Don’t get them wrong, they hate the empire too, but-“

“They say that they couldn’t do anything about them right now because the Imp’s might do something to ‘em- to their family. To their lives.” Ellie sighed. “Yep, same story.”

Marriette grinned. “Then welcome to the club kid!” They both laughed. “How old are you anyway?”

“Just turned 18.” Ellie replied. “Well, gotta follow ‘em. Don’t wanna be left behind.”

Marriette laughed. The two followed after the guys, chatting when they came across a transport of some kind. They heard Lance’s scoping system beep, and everyone took cover. “What could that be?” Marriette whispered to Ellie, who suddenly kept quiet.

“A vehicle. Why are there many – wait a second, that’s a slavery transpo. There are slavers here...?” Ellie realized. She saw a bunch of wookies, each chained to each other, and a group of troopers guarding them. “The bloody... they ship them from here? Here’s where they meet their contacts, I suppose. They use those wookies as workers, don’t they? We gotta get outta here. I bet there are many Imp’s are guarding ‘em.”

Marriette’s eyes widened and seemed not paying attention to what Ellie just said. “We have to help them Ellie!!”

“What?!”

“We just, have to!” Marriette walked two steps towards the vehicle when Joel caught her arm.

“What do you think you’re doing?!” Joel demanded. “You’ll get yourself killed!”

“I want to help those poor creatures Joel!” Marriette pleaded. “They’re about to be shipped.”

Joel shook his head. He just couldn’t say no to Marriette. Besides, it was the right thing to do. “Alright. But if someone gets hurt, it’s your record on the line, not mine.” He stated flatly. He knew it would all go down on his record; he was the team leader anyway.

Marriette smiled and got hold of her blaster. Ellie shook her head and re-loaded her blaster pistol and got hold of a thermal-detonator. “Here we go again…” She whispered to no one in partricular. She was actually excited about this. Even though she hated killing, she loved action.

Joel called Lance and Aldrek, telling them of the plan. “WHAT?!” Lance shouted.

Joel shushed him. “Shut up Lance! Do you want them to hear us!?”

Lance gritted his teeth. Aldrek however, just nodded his head in agreement, although his fur rippled with frustration.

Marriette told them that she and Ellie would handle the freeing of the Wookies while the guys would lure the stormtroopers away.

“I knew we’d get the hard part. Not to mention the most dangerous.” Aldrek hissed, rolling his eyes.

Marriette shrugged. “I know. But don’t worry. Once we released the Wookies, I’m sure they’ll help. I’m sure we’ll go home ship full; because I’m sure they’ll think of this as a life debt.”

“I thought so. So we’ll need to use those transports…” Ellie thought aloud.

“Uh-huh…” Marriette nodded.

Ellie shook her head. “Come on… Let’s get this over with…”
